Website development is the synthesis of web page design, website design, web copywriting, and web programming. In other words, web development is the total package, and it should encompass your entire website marketing strategy. Therefore, website development requires every skill in every level of the process, from conceptualization and planning, through the website design process, and all the way through to website promotion.

Online Website Marketing Time Frames

The website marketing development cycle must at least be led by a web developer familiar with every stage in the process and every necessary skill. The greater the portion of this web development cycle that each person who touches the site is familiar with, the more likely the project is to succeed. Website development requires a thought process as interconnected as the web itself.

The first phase of web development is planning. Planning for web development means first discovering a website’s market: who they are, what they like, what they search for in the engines, which search engines they use, what they are and are not likely to spend time reading, etc.

Paradigms of Online Website Marketing Strategy

Next, the web development planning is advanced clear up to the point that it will intersect with web design: developing a way of thought that the web site will use, a paradigm for the whole thing. Paradigm dictates the structure of the web development. This phase of website development has to ask difficult questions: What is this website we’re developing? What is it for? Is it merely an advertisement? A store? What is the site’s goal, and how big does it have to be to accomplish that goal?

Next in the website marketing development cycle is the basic web design. This is the implementation of the site and its mechanics. At this phase the web developers must determine how dynamic and updatable the site needs to be. It is generally better to develop at least a sampling of the content in advance of developing the look and feel of the site.

The content is the first indicator that the website development process has found its paradigm. It is very easy to develop a site that looks functional, and much more difficult to develop one that actually is. Developing the interface elements around the content help to ensure that we are developing a web site that actually does work.

Online Website Promotion Strategy

The next part of website marketing development is the web promotion. At this point, the integral connection of all parts of the web development process becomes evident: it is very difficult to promote a site that has not been adequately developed up to that point, and relatively easy to promote a site that has been developed sufficiently.

Website development is really a process of thinking forward. Your web development efforts can never be totally concentrated at one point on the line. Instead, website marketing development must be performed holistically; a web site can be a living, breathing entity if it’s developed correctly. A well-developed web site will advertise itself, and develop a loyal readership simply by virtue of being useful.
